About Anchor-Cross Ministries

Anchor-Cross was founded in 2003 and is recognized by the United States Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization.

We derive our name, Anchor-Cross, from a symbol of the early church, which can still be found in the Roman catacombs of the second century. Like the fish (ichthus) symbol, the anchor holds a double meaning. At first glance, one simply sees an anchor. But on a second look, one may find more -- Jesus' cross embedded within the anchor. The inspiration for this symbol may have come from the book of Hebrews: "We have this hope as an an anchor for the soul, sure and steadfast." (Hebrews 6:19, NET)

Focused on proclaiming the historic Christian gospel, Anchor-Cross has no denominational affiliation and is committed to that which should unite believers across the globe, the gospel of Jesus Christ. We believe in the inspiration and inerrancy of the Scriptures, the trinity, the virgin birth, the atonement of Jesus' death, his bodily resurrection on the third day, and the future resurrection and judgment of all people. Through Christian media, Anchor-Cross is devoted to proclaiming God's truth and again reminding the world about the call of the Lord Jesus in our lives.

One of the unique aspects of Anchor-Cross Ministries (and its publishing arm, Anchor-Cross Media) is its commitment to "open-source" publishing. We believe that the internet must be strategically used to share high quality Christian materials without cost. This service is especially important to believers in places around the world where funds are limited and books cannot be carried into the mission field. Moreover, in this internet age, an online presence is essential if Christians are to engage in wider witness. For an essay outlining this basic philosophy of Anchor-Cross Media, click here.
